Congratulations to Our Malaysian Finalists at IFAA 2024!

The Malaysian Anatomical Association (MAA) is immensely proud to recognize the outstanding achievements of our members who were shortlisted as finalists for the prestigious iNNO-ANAT Awards during the 21st Congress of the International Federation of Association of Anatomists (IFAA 2024) in Gwangju, Korea.

A special congratulations goes to Ms Nur Damia Iwani Zulkiflee, PhD student from Universiti Teknologi MARA, for winning the coveted iNNO-ANAT Award and bringing home the USD 2,000 prize for her groundbreaking work on Frontal Sinus Anterior Wall Thickness amongst Malaysians: A Colour-Mapping Gradient Effect Method for Forensic Anthropology Application.

We also applaud the impressive contributions of our fellow Malaysian finalists:
1. Dr Choy Ker Woon (Universiti Teknologi MARA) – Digitalization of Forensic Anthropology: Sexual Dimorphism of Frontal Sinus via Geometric Morphometric in Malaysia.
2. Mr Muhammad Zaid Zainuddin (Universiti Teknologi MARA) – A Practical Active Learning Approach in Neuroanatomy Education amongst Preclinical Students.
3. Dr Nurul Hannim Zaidun (Universiti Teknologi MARA) – 3-Dimensional Geometric Morphometrics Revealed Malaysian First Rib Sexual Dimorphism.
4. Mdm Rani Sakaran (Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia) – Sexual Dimorphism from Twelfth Thoracic Vertebra (T12) on CT Scan: A 3-Dimensional Geometric Morphometric Approach.

The global representation in this prestigious competition includes finalists from countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, China, Germany, Serbia, South Africa, and Turkiye, highlighting the significance of Malaysia’s achievement. Having 5 out of the 16 finalists from Malaysia speaks volumes about the excellence of our anatomical research and education.

We are deeply honored to see Malaysia represented on the international stage and look forward to more remarkable achievements in the future. Congratulations once again to all finalists and especially to Damia for her win!
